Lincoln County jail escapee caught near Crandon

CRANDON, Wis. (WSAU) – Police have caught an inmate who walked away from the Lincoln County jail last week.

Crandon police got a tip that Derek Gervais was in the area.

Officers and Forest County sheriff’s deputies arrested the 25-year-old Gervais near Armstrong Creek just before 9 p.m.

Gervais will be returned to the jail where he will continue serving a 60-day sentence and be charged with felony escape.

Gervais never returned to the jail after guards let him out for a substance abuse counseling meeting.
